DAN FOSTER is a theatre director/producer based in New York City.
In 1999 he co-founded Hudson Stage Company, a professional theatre based in Westchester NY. During the next 20 years he directed and/or produced over 50 productions, staged readings and special events for the company. Also during that time he directed several plays, musicals, concerts, and special events in New York City, off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally.
Directing credits include the NY Premiere of Switzerland (off-Broadway), Shining City, You Will Remember Me (US Premiere), Outside Mullingar, Rabbit Hole, Stones in his Pockets, A Number, The Chocolate Show (off-Broadway), and Mary’s Wedding. Regional credits include Every Brilliant Thing, November, Other Desert Cities, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Sunday in the Park with George, and The Cocktail Hour. He has also worked internationally, directing at London’s Donmar Warehouse, Theatre Estradi in Moscow, Gran Teatre del Liceu, in Barcelona, and the Sydney Opera House. He has worked at The Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwrights Horizons, New York’s Town Hall, Feinstein’s/54 Below, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. He directed The Festival of Broadway starring Stephen Schwartz in Tasmania, and produced Seven starring Meryl Streep as part of The Women in the World Summit (which he directed) for Tina Brown and The Daily Beast. Mr. Foster was a member of the Circle Rep Director’s Lab.
Before embarking on a directing career, Dan worked as an actor appearing on Broadway in City of Angels, and off-Broadway in Cymbelline. He received a Jefferson Award nomination as Best Actor for his appearance in the Chicago production of Baby. Television credits include “The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys”, “Lemon Sky”, and “All My Children”.
